Today my colleague asked me, would you prefer to have good colleagues and bad boss or bad colleagues and good boss. Of cos, I would like to have both great colleagues and great boss, but sometimes we just cannot choose the best of both world like how it was like in my first job.
Nonetheless, being in my previous company where I had neither good boss nor good colleagues, one learns how to survive. Of cos I learnt how to be as scheming as the serpent (and innocent as a dove). Not exactly sure if I had mastered that but I am sure it is not good to be living in that sort of environment for long lest I become like them. Humans are really easily adapted. I am really happy at where I am now as I am learning a lot from my boss and am given countless opportunities to exhibit my creativity and display my abilities. For that, I have to thank God who answered my prayers specifically.
My colleague said something that I totally agree upon and that is even if you have horrible colleagues they can do nth to you just that maybe your day at work is not as enjoyable but if you have horrible bosses, there will be no career progression and your life will be hellish and it is really pointless to be working there. Nth you do will matter but everything that you don’t do would be magnified. Especially when you are starting out in ur career and when u are almost the lowest life form, it is essential to have a great mentor, if not you will remain there forever.
